About the Workroom

Welcome to my little world of sewing!
I'm a passionate sewer (and fabric hoarder!) and I have been sewing/creating things most of my life. My passions are corsetry and period clothing - I love creating something unusual that you just can't find elsewhere.
The Workroom is my exciting new plan to expand my love of sewing and passion for teaching. I've converted an old office space in the heart of the fishing town of Brixham in Devon into a sewing fairyland - loads of space and everything we need to enjoy a social sew with a cuppa.
There are lots of 'learn to sew' courses out there, so I'm not going to do that. Instead my courses will take your skills (basic or more advanced) and help you to learn new skills and make something that you wouldn't try by yourself, including corsetry, basic pattern drafting and period clothes.
My classes are open to everyone - women, men, beginners or more experienced sewers.
The Workroom
Up the stairs off of Fore Street - Brixham's main shopping street is a little piece of sewing heaven. I've cleared out an old office, and turned it into a loft-style creative space. There's a huge cutting table, simple reliable sewing machines for all, overlockers, a comfy area for having a cuppa or hand sewing, an indulgent dressing room, a useful haberdashery corner, plenty of spaces for photos, and a kitchen.
Welcome to Brixham
Brixham is a historic little fishing town in beautiful South Devon. It's a great place to spend a few days enjoying the harbour, coast and attractions of our lovely part of the world.
The Workroom can be found on Fore Street, our pedestrianised high street that leads up from the harbourside. There are plenty of interesting little shops, cafes and supermarkets - no need to bring a packed lunch! Just a couple of doors down is The Brixham Sewing Box, an excellent and super friendly sewing shop where you'll be able to find any last-minute supplies.
We are just a few steps away from the large town centre car park and the main bus stop which has services every few minutes.
Sewing for all
As a long-standing member of Boys Sew Too and We Sew Too I am pleased to support anyone who wants to get into sewing, especially men and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. The Workroom Brixham is a safe space for everyone who wants to create beautiful things.
